- CentroGaming, (UNC Charlotte) – Offers an online venue for gamers to buy or sell used video games and equipment.
- MyShop, (UNC Charlotte) – A service center for cars that enables do-it-yourself owners access to high-end equipment such as lifts and specialized power tools.
- nKind Rewards Network, (UNC Chapel Hill) – Builds sustainable communities by rewarding people for their individual good deeds and helping businesses to connect with communities via an innovative, high-impact marketing channel.
- Paintball Carolina, (UNC Charlotte) – The definitive news and information portal dedicated to promoting, selling and organizing paintball activities throughout the Carolinas.
- Whinot, LLC, (University of Virginia / UNC Charlotte) – Streamlines consulting engagements for businesses through a web-based portal and creates an efficient way to access freelance consultants on a “pay-per-sip” basis.

- Aspen Environmental Services, Ltd., (Jefferson, NC) – Manufactures and markets fuel enhancing products for diesel and gasoline engines. All of Aspen’s fuel-enhancing products conserve energy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and reduce carbon footprint by 10% or more.
- Bio-Energy Conversion Global, (Locust, NC) – Has developed a proprietary type of pyrolysis gasification which can utilize a wide variety of organic and synthetic feedstocks, including, but not limited to coal, Municipal Solid Waste (MSW), tires, biomass, animal waste, oil sludge, bio-solids and medical waste.
- BioRxn, (Chapel Hill, NC) - Will develop, manufacture and service proprietary bioreactors for the pork industry that will allow farmers to compete and capture a portion of the growing renewable energy market.
- Daheco Engines Corporation, (Valdese, NC) – Has developed new technologies to create and manufacture the next generation of internal combustion piston engines. Based on two core designs, our engine offers improved performance while providing more than double the fuel economy when compared to current engines of equivalent displacement.

Richard Childress, President & CEO, Richard Childress Racing (RCR) & Childress Vineyards
Richard Childress is the president and chief executive officer of Richard Childress Racing, a 12-time NASCAR championship-winning organization. More than 400 dedicated motorsports professionals work at the RCR complex, located in Welcome, N.C., just south of Winston-Salem. Its 70-acre facility consists of 12 buildings and 500,000 square feet of shop space, including Earnhardt-Childress Racing Engines, the high performance engine production and research and development company which built the engine that powered the 2010 Daytona 500 winner.
In addition to his fulltime racing career, Childress is the proprietor of Childress Vineyards in Lexington, N.C. Located at the gateway of the Yadkin River Valley, Childress Vineyards has earned numerous prestigious industry awards.
The Richard Childress family and Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center teamed up in July 2008 to form what will become the nation’s most comprehensive Institute for Pediatric Trauma. The Childress family has donated $5 million to the Medical Center to initiate the project. For his efforts, Childress was presented, and accepted on behalf of his entire family, NASCAR’s 2008 Home Depot Humanitarian of the Year Award.

- GrouperEye, (Charlotte, NC) - Builds online communities and platforms for companies to engage external talent and then use those engagements to increase sales and make better hiring decisions.
- Medzooka, LLC, (Columbia, SC) – An innovative B2B solution that creates a comprehensive online marketplace for the highly fragmented medical equipment industry by incorporating auction event software that connects purchasers and sellers of medical equipment.
- STASH Games, (Charlotte, NC) – Provides a platform for a role-playing adventure games that can be accessed though any GPS-enabled smartphone.

- CertiRx Corporation, (Chapel Hill, NC) – Develops products that make medicines safer by reducing the growing global risk of injury or death from counterfeit drugs. Our patent-pending technology makes an authenticating link between each pharmaceutical unit.
- Restorative Physiology Group, LLC, (Charleston, SC) – Designs and developments implantable devices for the human spine. We have developed a proprietary method that allows placement of surgical implants that are significantly larger than the access required to place them.
- TactileMED, Inc., (Charlotte, NC) – Improves the quality and reduces the cost of patient care by designing, manufacturing and marketing patient-specific anatomical models and cranial / craniofacial implants. The goal is to ultimately develop a “smart device” which will act as both a medical device and a drug delivery system.
- Vitasol, LLC (Columbia, SC) – Has created an improved resuscitative therapy called Resuscinex™ - a hypertonic, hyperoncotic fluid with intermediate energy substrates and pharmacological substances that combats shock and inflammation.
